TAMPA BAY RAYS CLINCH AL EAST CROWN
With an 8-5 victory over the Mets on Wednesday at Citi Field, the Rays won their first AL East division crown since 2010 and third in franchise history, completing the goal the team set out for 11 months ago.
After losing in game 5 of the ALDS to the Houston Astros their has only been one thing on the Rays minds and that was to come back into the 2020 season and crush their opponents, win the AL East Crown and get back into the playoffs to begin a revenge tour.
Randy Arozarena gave the Rays a 4-2 lead with a two-run shot in the sixth. Brandon Lowe, the team’s best offensive player this season, hit an upper-deck two-run homer to extend the lead in the eighth inning & Arozarena sealed the deal as things with his second blast of the night, solo home run in the ninth.
That was plenty enough of run support for Tyler Glasnow who went 6 innings on 2 runs, 8 strikeouts and looking sharp before for his postseason appearances next week.
Rays currently will still hold the lead for the (1) seed in the American League.
