Buccaneers-Bears Week Five Preview

Buccaneers-Bears Week Five Preview

Week four is in the books now the focus is on the week five game which is on Thursday. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making a trip to Chicago to play the Bears. The Bucs had a comeback win over Los Angeles and the Bears lost to the Indianapolis Colts. Let’s look at the game.

Keys to Consider:

Nick Foles is now the starting quarterback for the Bears after Mitchell Trubisky was benched. Nick Foles has some history with the Buccaneers, probably not on the best side but last time Nick Foles faced Tampa he lost when he was on the Eagles. The last time Tom Brady faced Nick Foles, it was the Super Bowl and Brady lost the Super Bowl.

The Buccaneers have some injuries and the team looks a little banged up. OJ Howard is probably the biggest loss because the Bucs say that he is out for the year with an Achilles injury. Cameron Brate will get more playing time with Howard’s injury. Also, at some point Anthony Auclair will be back and that will give them another tight end. Running back depth could be an issue this week. Buccaneers lost LeSean McCoy, and Kenjon Barner during the game on Sunday. Leonard Fournette was already out and there’s talk he could come back to play on Thursday but pay attention for that.

As for the receivers. Chris Godwin is expected to be ruled out. Mike Evans hurt his ankle but he did return to the game. Justin Watson or Scotty Miller did not participate in Monday’s walkthrough. Scotty Miller has emerged as a star so having him out there would be huge. Due to the covid procedures, Bucs will most likely not be able to bring anyone in for depth. Keep an eye out for the injury reports.

The Buccaneers did a great job with Nick Bosa but the next task is to stop Khalil Mack. Good news Mack only accounted for 1.5 sacks so far. It’s going to be a battle of top linebackers between him and Lavonte David. Last year Mack didn’t have double digit sacks however the last five years he’s averaged 10 plus sacks. They’re going to have to account for him because he’s probably going to be a factor.

Who Wins?

Revenge game for Tom Brady in wake of his last matchup with Foles. I think even though the Bucs are banged up Tom Brady can throw the ball to anyone. Tightend Cole Kmet and Anthony Miller have big nights but I think Tompa Bay wins the game. Buccaneers win the week five matchup 24-14
